JioStar Takes Bold Action Against Digital Piracy on IPL 2026 Launch Day

“As the TATA IPL continues to scale up in unprecedented ways, our push is to assemble legends and heavyweights of the league together in our studios in a way that will offer a unique insider’s perspective to fans,” stated Siddharth Sharma, a key figure at JioStar. This declaration comes on a significant day, as JioStar has successfully dismantled a large-scale digital piracy syndicate operating under the name BOS IPTV, coinciding with the highly anticipated launch of TATA IPL 2026.
The unauthorized IPTV service was reportedly offering access to over 10,000 linear channels and a library of more than 25,000 video-on-demand titles. With an estimated 64,000 active subscribers, the platform posed a considerable threat to legitimate broadcasting services.
In a decisive move, JioStar filed a criminal complaint at the Cyber Police Station in Firozabad, Uttar Pradesh, leading to the registration of an FIR (No. 0005 dated 26 March 2026) under multiple sections of Indian law. This action underscores JioStar’s commitment to safeguarding its content ecosystem and ensuring a fair viewing experience for fans.
The website bostv.org, associated with the infringing service, has since been taken down by its operators, marking a significant victory in the ongoing battle against digital piracy.
As JioStar prepares for the TATA IPL season, it has announced an impressive lineup featuring over 150 presenters and experts. This includes the debut commentary of renowned cricketer Ravichandran Ashwin in JioStar’s studios, further enhancing the viewing experience for fans.
Fans can expect a diverse offering, with JioStar providing 12 language options for viewing the TATA IPL, catering to a wide audience across India. The 19th edition of TATA IPL is set to feature players from three different generations, promising an exciting tournament.
As the tournament unfolds, JioStar’s proactive measures against piracy will likely play a crucial role in shaping the viewing landscape, ensuring that fans receive quality content without the threat of illegal services.
With the IPL season now underway, the focus will be on how JioStar continues to innovate and protect its broadcasting rights while delivering an engaging experience for cricket enthusiasts.
