“Do not ruin your life by falling into the trap of betting,”
In a proactive measure, the Hyderabad Police have issued a warning against betting syndicates that are re-emerging, particularly during the high-stakes IPL season. Despite previous bans on numerous betting apps, illegal activities have resurfaced in new forms, prompting authorities to take a firm stance.
V.C. Sajjanar, the police commissioner, stated, “We will take strict action against social media influencers who promote these dangerous apps just for money.” This statement underscores the growing concern over how platforms like Telegram, WhatsApp, and Instagram are being exploited by fraudsters to lure unsuspecting users into betting scams.
Local bookies are reportedly targeting the youth, pushing them into debt and jeopardizing their financial stability. The police are not only monitoring online operations but are also keeping a close watch on offline betting networks.
In a bid to combat these illegal activities, citizens are urged to report any suspicious betting activity by calling Dial 100 or using the police WhatsApp number at 94906 16555. Sajjanar further cautioned, “Do not put your family’s future at risk.”
Historically, the government has banned hundreds of betting apps, yet the allure of gambling continues to attract individuals, leading to significant financial and emotional repercussions. Betting often results in heavy debts, which can destroy families.
As betting apps offer enticing bonuses—like Parimatch’s 1000% welcome bonus up to ₹70,000—it’s essential for users to remain vigilant and informed about the risks involved.
With the IPL season underway, the Hyderabad Police’s warning serves as a timely reminder of the dangers of illegal betting and the importance of community vigilance in combating these activities.
