Baramulla Police Seizes 1.7 Kilograms of Charas in Major Drug Bust

In a significant operation on March 24, Baramulla Police recovered approximately 1.7 kilograms of charas in the Chichilora area of Kunzer, marking a notable effort in the ongoing battle against drug trafficking in Jammu and Kashmir.
The police intercepted a suspicious vehicle with the registration number HR55AD2930 during routine patrolling, leading to the arrest of the driver, Waheed Sultan, who was found with 27 grams of charas. Further investigation revealed that around 1.690 kilograms of charas powder was recovered from the residence of another suspect who managed to escape.
This operation is part of Baramulla Police’s broader commitment to curb the drug menace in the region, as reiterated by law enforcement officials. A case has been registered under FIR No.35/2026 at Police Station Kunzer, emphasizing the seriousness of the situation.
In a related incident, the Jammu and Kashmir Police also disposed of a live artillery shell found in the Kalgai forest area near the Line of Control. A Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) team was deployed to neutralize and safely dispose of the shell, ensuring the safety of the surrounding area.
