Wbifms Portal Error Causes Major Disruption for West Bengal Government Employees

Severe Server Issues Affect WBIFMS Portal

A severe server issue on the WBIFMS portal has caused major concerns for state government employees of West Bengal. The problems began on March 12, 2026, when users started encountering error messages such as ‘503 Service Unavailable’ and ‘404 Page not found’.

The Finance Department of the Government of West Bengal had previously issued a directive requiring the preparation of e-Service Books by March 20. This directive mandates that the Service Book custodian upload the scanned copy of the physical service book onto the portal, while employees must fill in all details of their e-Service Book online by referring to the uploaded scanned copy.

However, the ongoing server outage has made it practically impossible for employees to complete these tasks within the timeframe set by the Finance Department. The situation is further exacerbated by the fact that March is synonymous with the extreme rush of the financial year-end in government offices, doubling the workload for many employees.

As frustrations mount, there are strong demands emerging from various quarters to extend the deadline for uploading and filling out the e-Service Books. Employees believe that completing the process within the stipulated date is unrealistic if the portal does not stabilize quickly.

One employee noted, “The normal functioning of government offices is severely disrupted,” highlighting the widespread impact of the portal’s issues. Given this situation, strong demands are emerging from various quarters to extend the deadline.

Details remain unconfirmed regarding any official response from the Finance Department about the potential for extending the deadline, but the urgency of the matter is clear.

As the situation develops, employees are left in a state of uncertainty, hoping for a resolution that will allow them to meet their obligations without further complications.
