Jyp: Park Jin-young Steps Down from Entertainment Directorship

Park Jin-young Steps Down
“Park Jin-young will not go through the process of reappointment as an inside director at the general shareholders’ meeting on March 26,” announced JYP Entertainment.
This decision marks the end of an era, as Park has served as a registered inside director since 2011, stepping down after 15 years in the role. He has been a pivotal figure in the K-pop industry, having founded JYP Entertainment in 1997 and debuted in the music scene in 1994.
In light of his resignation, Park stated, “Jinyoung Park will focus on creative activities as an artist, nurturing junior talent, and external work related to the K-pop industry.” This shift in focus underscores his commitment to fostering the next generation of artists.
Despite stepping down from his directorial role, Park Jin-young will retain his position as Chief Creative Officer (CCO) at JYP Entertainment, ensuring his continued influence within the company.
Park’s leadership has been instrumental in the success of various artists under the JYP banner, including the globally recognized group Stray Kids. In 2025, Stray Kids grossed an impressive $76.2 million during their North American tour, attracting 491,000 audience members and becoming the highest-grossing K-pop tour of the year, according to Billboard’s end-of-the-year report.
Park Jin-young’s contributions extend beyond his role at JYP Entertainment; he was also named co-chairman of the Popular Culture Exchange Committee under President Lee Jae-myung, reflecting his influence in the broader cultural landscape.
As he transitions away from his directorial responsibilities, Park’s future endeavors within the K-pop industry remain a point of interest. “Jinyoung Park will continue his various efforts within the K-pop industry going forward,” JYP Entertainment confirmed.
With record sales reported in the second quarter of 2025, JYP Entertainment is poised for continued growth, even as it adapts to this leadership change.
Details remain unconfirmed regarding any specific projects Park may pursue as he shifts his focus to creative activities.
