BTS to Hold Comeback Concert at Gwanghwamun Square
“We are preparing based on the assumption that the maximum number of people could gather,” stated Park Jeong Bo, a representative involved in the concert’s organization.
BTS is scheduled to hold a highly anticipated comeback concert at Gwanghwamun Square on March 21, 2026. This event marks the group’s return after a hiatus that began in 2022, with expectations of drawing up to 260,000 fans to the historic site.
The concert will not only celebrate the release of their new album, Arirang, set to debut on March 20, 2026, but will also feature brand-new performances. It is expected to last approximately one hour, with 13,000 ticket holders granted access to a fenced core performance enclosure.
In a significant move for cultural events, the concert will be streamed globally on Netflix, making it the first live Korean event to broadcast simultaneously to 190 countries. This innovative approach is anticipated to enhance the concert’s reach and impact.
The concert is part of BTS’s extensive world tour, which will encompass 82 shows across 34 cities in 23 countries from April 2026 to March 2027. The event at Gwanghwamun Square is expected to generate over $1 billion in revenue, underscoring the group’s immense popularity.
Gwanghwamun Square, known as the historic heart of Seoul, has been a symbol of the city for centuries. The restoration of the Woldae stage to its original dimensions in 2023 further enhances the venue’s significance for this monumental event.
As the concert approaches, excitement builds not only among fans but also within the cultural landscape of South Korea. The event is seen as a powerful example of the intersection of music, culture, and soft power.
Details remain unconfirmed regarding specific arrangements for crowd management and safety protocols, but preparations are underway to accommodate the expected influx of attendees.
