Australia women vs india women: India Clinches T20I Series with Thrilling Victory

The India Women’s team triumphed over Australia Women by 17 runs in the third T20I match held in Adelaide on Saturday, clinching the series 2-1. Smriti Mandhana shone with her batting skills, while Shree Charani and Shreyanka Patil made significant contributions with their bowling for India.

Mandhana earned the Player of the Match title by scoring 82 runs off 55 deliveries. Charani and Patil each claimed three wickets, limiting Australia to a total of 159 runs.

India’s Victory in T20I Series

Australia’s opening pair, Georgia Voll and Beth Mooney, provided a rapid start, amassing 18 runs in the initial over bowled by Renuka Singh. Nevertheless, Australia’s innings quickly stumbled. Patil removed Voll for 10 in the second over, and shortly after, Beth Mooney was caught by Charani off Renuka in the next over. The hosts lost their third wicket, Ellyse Perry, in the fourth over, with Patil leaving Australia at 32 for 3 in just 3.3 overs.

The Australian team concluded the powerplay with a score of 44 for 3. Ashleigh Gardner was the standout performer for Australia, scoring 57 runs off 45 deliveries before being dismissed by Arundhati Reddy on the final ball of the 16th over. Australia then faltered, reaching only 128 for 6 by the 15.5 over mark. Contributions from Grace Harris, Sophie Molineux, and Annabel Sutherland were minimal as Australia ended their innings at 159 for 9.

In the earlier match, India won the toss and chose to bat first. Mandhana and Shafali began the innings while Australian bowler Darcie Brown faced difficulties in her opening over, delivering four wides and allowing a boundary to Mandhana. India made a strong start, reaching 14 runs without losing a wicket after two overs, but Shafali was dismissed for 1 run at 19 in 2.4 overs.

Key Performers in the Match

During the powerplay, Mandhana and Jemimah Rodrigues took full advantage, guiding India to a score of 54 for 1 after the initial six overs. The pair continued to build on their success, reaching 86 for 1 by the end of the 10-over mark. Mandhana achieved her half-century in just 38 deliveries, hitting a six off Brown in the 12th over. Even though Phoebe Litchfield dropped a catch in the 15th over, India stood at 127 for 1 at that point.

Mandhana was out in the 16th over after hitting a six off Annabel Sutherland, finishing with 82 runs from 55 deliveries, which included eight fours and three sixes, achieving a strike rate of 149.09. Richa Ghosh then took over the scoring, while Jemimah reached her half-century in 41 balls. Ghosh made 18 runs off seven balls before being bowled by Molineux in the 19th over.

During the last over delivered by Sutherland, India lost three players: Jemimah (59), Amanjot Kaur (1), and Deepti Sharma (1). The team concluded their innings with a total of 176 runs for 6 wickets.
