KVS Admissions for 2026-27 Begin: Key Details You Need to Know

Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) has initiated the admissions process for Balvatika and Class 1 for the academic year 2026-27, starting on March 20, 2026, at 10 AM. This move is part of KVS’s ongoing commitment to provide accessible education to children across India.

The online registration will remain open until April 2, 2026, allowing parents ample time to apply. Notably, KVS employs a lottery system for admissions, eliminating the need for written tests or interviews for Class 1, thereby streamlining the process.

To be eligible for Class 1, children must be at least 6 years old and below 8 years old as of March 31, 2026. Interestingly, children born on April 1 are also considered eligible, which may provide a slight advantage to some families.

KVS has established a reservation policy for Class 1 admissions: 25% of seats are reserved for the Right to Education (RTE), while 15% are allocated for Scheduled Castes (SC), 7.5% for Scheduled Tribes (ST), 27% for Other Backward Classes (OBC), and 3% for Children with Special Needs (CwSN).

The first provisional list for Balvatika will be announced on April 8, 2026, followed by the Class 1 list on April 9, 2026. This timeline is crucial for parents eager to secure a spot for their children in these foundational classes.

For those interested in Balvatika-2 and Class II, offline registration will take place from April 2 to April 8, 2026. It is essential for parents to be aware of these dates to ensure their children do not miss out on admission opportunities.

The last date for admission across all classes, except Class XI, is set for June 30, 2026. This extended timeline allows families to finalize their decisions without rushing.

Parents are required to submit certain documents during the application process, including proof of date of birth, residence proof, and a recent passport-size photograph. The entire application process is conducted online through the official KVS website, ensuring transparency and ease of access.

As KVS continues to adapt its admissions process, observers note that the shift to an online system has significantly improved accessibility for parents across the country. This change reflects a broader trend towards digitalization in education.

With the admissions process now underway, parents and guardians are encouraged to stay informed about the developments and timelines to ensure a smooth application experience for their children.
