Yash’s highly anticipated film Toxic has been rescheduled for release on June 4, 2026, following a decision influenced by current geopolitical tensions in the Middle East. Originally slated for a March 19 release, the postponement has raised discussions among fans and industry insiders alike.
The film, which features Yash as a mobster named Raya in Goa, revolves around his character entering a fake marriage with a rival clan’s heir to consolidate power. This narrative has already sparked significant interest, but the recent delay has shifted the focus back to the film’s production challenges.
Filming for Toxic commenced in 2024, and the project has faced numerous controversies and financial hurdles, including a budget that has reportedly exceeded initial estimates due to scrapped episodes and reworked scripts. Yash, who has turned down multiple projects after the success of the KGF franchise, aims to create cinema that resonates with a global audience.
In a statement, Yash remarked, “Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-ups is a film we conceptualized with the vision to create cinema for a global audience.” He further noted that the ongoing uncertainty in the Middle East has impacted their goal to connect with a wide audience.
The decision to postpone the release was also influenced by the scheduling conflict with Varun Dhawan’s film Hai Jawani To Ishq Hona Hai, which is set to premiere on the same day. A spokesperson from KVN Productions, the company behind Toxic, confirmed that the owner, Mr. Venkat, reached out to the makers of Dhawan’s film to prevent any unnecessary friction.
Industry sources have emphasized the importance of communication in such situations, stating, “If a film has already locked a release slot and another filmmaker plans to come on the same day, it’s customary to inform the makers who had taken the date first.” This highlights the competitive nature of film releases in Bollywood.
