New MacBook Neo Available for Preorder
“The new MacBook Neo is now available for preorder at the Apple Store, Amazon, Best Buy, Target, and Walmart,” an Apple spokesperson announced today.
Starting at $599, the MacBook Neo is positioned as Apple’s first dedicated budget laptop, a notable shift for the tech giant. Education buyers can take advantage of a $100 discount by ordering directly through the Apple Store.
Set to begin shipping on March 11, 2026, the MacBook Neo runs on the powerful A18 Pro chip, promising enhanced performance for everyday tasks.
The device features a 13-inch Liquid Retina display with a resolution of 2408×1506 pixels and a brightness of 500 nits. This display is slightly smaller than the 13.6-inch screen found on the smallest MacBook Air.
Available in four colors—silver, indigo, blush, and citrus—the MacBook Neo includes modern connectivity options such as WiFi 6E and Bluetooth 6. It is equipped with two USB-C ports, a MagSafe charging port, and a headphone jack.
The baseline model comes with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. However, it is worth noting that the keyboard does not feature backlighting, which may be a drawback for some users.
The MacBook Neo informally succeeds the M1 MacBook Air, which Apple sold through Walmart for around $699 from March 2024 to early this year. This new model aims to cater to budget-conscious consumers while maintaining Apple’s reputation for quality.
As the launch date approaches, further details about the MacBook Neo’s performance and user reception will be closely monitored.
