Incident Overview

On March 8, at approximately 7:30 a.m., Karnataka High Court judge G. Basavaraj was involved in a traffic accident while traveling on the Bengaluru–Tumakuru National Highway. Prior to this incident, expectations were that the judge would arrive at his destination without any complications.

Details of the Accident

The accident occurred when a truck unexpectedly took a left turn, prompting the police escort vehicle to swerve and collide with the judge’s car. This decisive moment led to a situation that resulted in injuries for the judge and two police escort personnel.

Injuries and Immediate Response

Judge G. Basavaraj sustained minor injuries to his nose, while the two police escort personnel also reported injuries. All injured parties were promptly transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. Fortunately, police reports indicate that the injuries are minor and that all individuals involved are out of danger.

Expert Perspective

This incident highlights the potential dangers faced by officials on the road, particularly when police escorts are involved. Traffic accidents can occur suddenly, and the implications can be serious, even if the injuries are minor. Experts emphasize the importance of road safety and the need for vigilance among drivers, especially in high-traffic areas.

While the immediate aftermath of the accident has been managed with medical attention, the event raises awareness about the risks associated with road travel for public officials. Details remain unconfirmed regarding any further implications of the accident on the judge’s schedule or duties.

Bihar Civil Court Peon Exam Updates

The Bihar Civil Court has officially released the admit card for the recruitment examination for Civil Court Peon posts, scheduled for March 15, 2026. Candidates are required to download their admit cards from the official website, as individual copies will not be sent.

This recruitment notification includes a total of 7,692 vacancies across various positions, with 1,673 specifically for the peon or orderly role under Group D. Candidates must have completed the Class 10 matriculation examination to be eligible for these positions.

Age limits for applicants are set between 20 and 25 years as of October 1, 2024. Candidates must also carry a printed admit card along with a valid photo ID to the examination centre, as entry will not be permitted without both documents.

The admit card will contain essential details such as the candidate’s name, photograph, roll number, exam date, reporting time, and exam centre information. “Candidates must appear at the centre mentioned on their admit card on the date and shift allotted,” an official statement noted.

In a related incident, a bomb threat was received at the Patna Civil Court on February 9, 2026, which delayed a bail hearing for Pappu Yadav, who was arrested in connection with a case dating back to 1995. Advocate Shivnandan Bharti stated, “We have been told that a bomb threat has been received on the email address of the District Judge,” highlighting the seriousness of the situation.

The bail application for Pappu Yadav was scheduled for the same day as the bomb threat, leading to further complications. “My client shall have to spend another day in jail,” Bharti added, reflecting the impact of the incident on the judicial process.

As the examination date approaches, candidates are encouraged to ensure they have all necessary documents ready. The position previously listed as ‘Peon/Orderly’ will now be referred to as ‘Attendant [Peon (General + Orderly)]’.

With the recruitment process in motion, the Bihar Civil Court aims to fill these critical vacancies efficiently while ensuring the safety and security of all involved in the examination process.
