Success in Civil Services Examination

“As an IAS officer, I want to improve the service delivery systems so govt programmes reach people more effectively,” stated Rajeshwari Suve, who secured All-India Rank 2 in the UPSC Civil Services Examination 2025. Her achievement highlights the significant impact of the Naan Mudhalvan program, which has been instrumental in preparing candidates for such competitive exams.

In total, 56 candidates from Tamil Nadu cleared the Civil Services Examination this year, with three candidates, including Suve, achieving ranks within the top 20. A R Rajah Mohaideen, who secured All-India Rank 7, remarked, “The Covid pandemic made me think of becoming a civil servant,” indicating how personal experiences can shape career aspirations.

Among the successful candidates, 39 received residential coaching under the Naan Mudhalvan scheme, which aims to enhance the quality of civil service preparation in the state. T Sankara Saravanan noted, “While 39 candidates, including Rajeshwari Suve, were residential aspirants, 17, including Rajah Mohaideen, received fellowship,” showcasing the diverse support structures available to aspirants.

Rajeshwari Suve, an engineering graduate from Anna University, Chennai, is currently serving as a deputy collector in Dindigul district. Her journey to success was not straightforward; she attempted the UPSC exam three times before shifting her focus to TNPSC exams, demonstrating resilience and determination.

Another notable candidate, Sruthi R, achieved All-India Rank 18, further emphasizing Tamil Nadu’s strong performance in this year’s examination. The state has seen a consistent upward trend in civil service success, with 57 candidates passing last year.

More than 150 candidates from Tamil Nadu appeared for the interview, as highlighted by S Boominathan, indicating a growing interest in civil services among the youth of the state. This trend reflects the increasing recognition of the importance of public service in addressing societal challenges.

Rajah Mohaideen also formed a Telegram group for joint preparation with other aspirants from Tamil Nadu, fostering a collaborative environment that can enhance learning and motivation among candidates.

Overall, the Naan Mudhalvan program has played a crucial role in shaping the future of civil service aspirants in Tamil Nadu, contributing to a record number of successful candidates this year. With a total of 958 candidates recommended for appointment, the state is poised to see a new generation of civil servants dedicated to public service.
