HYBE India Launches Nationwide Auditions for New Girl Group

HYBE has previously dominated global charts with boy groups and girl groups before expanding into India. Now, the company is taking a significant step by launching a nationwide audition for a new girl group, marking a pivotal moment in its localization strategy.

The auditions will be open to girls born between 2005 and 2011, running from March 31 to July 31, 2026. This initiative aims to showcase ‘Harmony in Diversity’ and tell authentic stories of Indian women, reflecting a deep understanding of the local market.

Auditions will take place in 10 cities: Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chandigarh, Chennai, Delhi, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Mumbai, and Pune. Participants will be invited to demonstrate their talents in various fields, including vocals, rap, dance, acting, and modeling.

Damien Woochang Lee, the CEO of HYBE India, emphasized the importance of this initiative, stating, “India has never lacked talent or ambition – what’s been missing is a consistent pathway to the global stage. This audition is where that process begins.” His vision is to build a systematic training and development system tailored to the local market.

The decision to focus on a girl group stems from local research indicating a strong desire for relatable artists among young Indian women. Lee noted, “What we are building is that bridge: a system that allows us to nurture artistes with intention, and to be seen, heard, and understood beyond borders.”

The campaign will be amplified through partnerships with major brands like Samsung and H&M, ensuring a broad reach and engagement with potential participants.

As the audition process unfolds, observers are keen to see how this initiative will reshape the landscape of the Indian music industry and what impact it will have on the global K-pop scene.

With the auditions set to commence soon, excitement is building among aspiring artists and fans alike, eager to witness the emergence of new talent from India.

Details remain unconfirmed regarding the specific selection criteria and the final structure of the girl group, but the anticipation continues to grow as HYBE India embarks on this ambitious project.
